{"id":1429,"date":"2016-01-14T11:37:12","date_gmt":"2016-01-14T11:37:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dev.waggingtails-va.com\/?p=1429"},"modified":"2022-12-28T14:37:23","modified_gmt":"2022-12-28T14:37:23","slug":"dogs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.waggingtails-va.com\/prod\/dogs\/","title":{"rendered":"Dogs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Dogs\u00a0<\/strong>need to be current for all of the following vaccinations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bordetella (kennel cough) &#8211; should be given at least 5 days before boarding<\/li>\n<li>Rabies<\/li>\n<li>Distemper\/Corona\/Parvo (generally given as a single injection once annually, then every 3 years in mature dogs)<\/li>\n<li>We accept your vet&#8217;s print-out as documentation for all shots.\u00a0 You can bring the documents with you at check in or ask your vet to fax them to 804-200-5115.\u00a0 Most vets are very happy to help with this!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please understand that the bordetella vaccination prevents fewer than 50% of all canine cold viruses and your pet is still susceptible after being vaccinated (similar to the flu shot that you might get).\u00a0 If we suspect a pet is showing symptoms we take the following precautions immediately:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Remove the\u00a0dog from kennel to a separate room<\/li>\n<li>Notify you and your veterinarian<\/li>\n<li>Take the dog to the vet if symptoms persist<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Bordetella is an airborne pathogen and the best prevention is good airflow.
